The Bryant White Lady Hornets seventh grade basketball team of Bryant Middle School open the 2010-11 season on Monday night with a 21-12 win over Greenbrier.
In a B game, Greenbrier prevailed 6-4.
The seventh grade team includes[more] Lauren Allen, Faith Brown, Erica Crone, Skylar Davis, Hunter Delaney, Samantha Finney, Hailey Gentry, Jaela Hunter, Ashley Jimerson, Tristann Johnson, Sierra Jones, Alyssa Linam, Miranda Mayfield, Shayla McKissock, Carolyn Reeves, Hannah Shelby, Sharayah Wallace, Julianna Ward, and Lara White.
In the A game, Davis led the way with 14 points. Ward added 4 to go with three rebounds, McKissock scored 2 and Delaney 1.
“We looked okay for our first game,” said Lady Hornets coach DeAnna Ward. “Defensively, we got a little tired. We’ve got several small things to work on but it can all be fixed in practice. It will come. This is a smart group of girls that work hard.”
Ward noted that Davis had several steals to go with her point production.
In the B game, Reeves had 2 points and five rebounds and Allen scored 2.
The next game for the Bryant White seventh graders will be Monday, Nov. 22, against Bryant Blue at Bethel Middle School.
