The Bryant White Hornets seventh grade team of Bryant Middle School closed out its season Thursday[more] night with a 30-24 win over the Lighthouse Charter School Wolves of Jacksonville.
Tristan Calhoun scored 14 points, Brooks Ellis 8 and Scott Schmidt 6 to lead the Hornets to victory.
Bryant White gained the upper hand early, building an 8-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. It was 12-8 at the half then the Hornets put together another surge to build the lead to 23-13 going into the fourth quarter.
The Wolves rallied but Bryant White held on for the win.
“Overall, we defended them pretty well though we struggled some with their athleticism and got into foul trouble,” said Hornets coach Heath Long. “We played one of our better games of the year and I’m glad that we are able to go into the off-season with a win.”
