RUSSELLVILLE — After a rocky start, the Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade volleyball team of Bryant Middle School showed improvement in the second game of their match against the Russellville Lady Whirlwinds Thursday night but absorbed a 2-0 loss, 10-25, 16-25.
“We did better on serves, 78 percent,” noted Lady Hornets coach DeAnna Ward.
Lylah Washington was good on 11 of her 12 serves with four aces and Celena Martin got in 4 of 5.
“We are still struggling on serve-receive,” she mentioned. “We had a couple of calls go against us early and we kind of shut down in the first set.
“The girls played better the second set,” Ward said. “They started moving and talking. They had several good rallies.”
Bryant White plays again at home on Monday, Sept. 14, against North Little Rock.
