The Bryant White Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School only attempted one pass on Tuesday night against the Horace Mann Bearcats of Little Rock. That’s because they scored six touchdowns on the ground and another on defense in a 54-14 romp.
The Hornets improved to 4-2 on the season going into their game on Tuesday, Oct. 21 against Pulaski Heights. They’ll wrap up the season on Nov. 4 at home against Benton.
“I was glad they came out and played good this week,” said Hornets coach Brad Smothermon.
Logan Grant had an interception return for the defensive scores.
Alex White rushed for two of the scores on offense. Grant Botti contributed a 37-yard touchdown run and Coby Greiner’s TD burst went 45 yards. In addition, Jacob Birch and quarterback Jesse Windemaker came through with scoring runs.
Jake Wright ran in a pair of two-point conversions and Greiner and Windemaker each ran one in. Ryan Lessenberry recovered a fumble and scored a two-point conversion.
“Andrew Hays had a two-point conversion where he stopped and pushed the pile with help from the linemen to get the conversion,” recounted Smothermon.
