The Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School ran out to a 16-4 lead in the first quarter on their way to a 41-18 victory over the Watson Chapel Lady Wildcats eighth grade team to open the 2014-15 season at the BMS gym on Thursday night.
Ivory Russ led the way with 12 points. Sierra Trotter added 11 with Tierra Trotter pitching in with 8, Tiyanna Robinson 6. Celena Martin and Madison Scifres scored 2 apiece.
“We had a good team effort defensively and played unselfishly on the offensive end, which is good,” stated Lady Hornets coach Kenny Hays. “We also had strong bench play, which will again be a key for our success this season.
“Overall, it was a pretty good effort for the first game of the season,” he added.
Bryant White led 22-8 at the half and it was 34-13 by the end of the third quarter.
The Lady Hornets are set to return to action at a tournament in North Little Rock, which commences on Monday, Nov. 16. They’ll take on Cabot at 4:30 p.m.
