LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade volleyball team battled to the tiebreaking third[more] game Tuesday night but wound up on the short end of a 25-20, 13-25, 11-15 loss to Anthony School.
In their first match of the season, the Bryant White seventh grade team fell 20-25, 13-25.
The eighth grade team is set to host Benton this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. in the Bryant Middle School gym.
“We finally put together three decent sets in the same night,” commented Lady Hornets coach DeAnna Ward regarding the eighth grade contest. “We have struggled with one good set, one bad set.”
She noted that the team was without a pair of starters.
“And that really hurt but I had several girls step up and fill their spots,” Ward added. “I played everyone.”
Sarah Palmer contributed six good serves with two aces for the Lady Hornets. Brianna Ware added seven good serves and four aces.
“Jadyn Lewis had some good net play with two kills and a tip,” Ward noted.
Regarding the seventh grade contest, the coach said, “We played in a jamboree with Bethel last week but this was the first real match. Everyone got playing time and contributed. We looked nervous and played a little scared but we have lots of potential and I’m expecting big improvements over the next few weeks."
The seventh grade team is scheduled to play in a jamboree at Bethel Middle School on Sept. 22.
