CONWAY — The Bryant White Lady Hornets volleyball team of Bryant Middle School have been close and competitive against nearly every opponent this season but they struggled to get over the hump for victories much of the way and when they concluded the season against Conway Blue on Thursday night, it was an all-too-familiar story. After winning the first game of the match 25-23, the Lady Hornets were edged 18-25, 11-15 by the Lady Kittens.
The Bryant White team includes Mariah Aguilar, Jayla Anderson, Haley Collins, Claire Henderson, Madison Krick, Taylor Lindberg, Brittany McDonald, Makayla Nguyen, Alexis Parsley, Jessica Reese, Charli Sahr, Sarah Shepard, Abby Staton, and Jordan Tarvin.[more]
“I was a little worried because we had several players out with other extra-curricular activities,” mentioned Lady Hornets coach DeAnna Ward. “But the girls that were there really stepped up their game and came through.
“Mariah Aguilar served points 16-22 to bring us from behind in the first game and tie it up,” she noted. “Alexis Parsely served points 10-15 of the second game. Abby Staton served point 5-8 of the third one.
“We had three different girls really come through as leaders on the court to make this a close game,” mentioned the coach. “Makayla Nguyen also had a good night with 4 kills and 4 of 6 from the serving line. Charli Sahr did a great job of setting her up with 4 assists. Jessica Reese also came up with some key serves, two of them aces.”
