The Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade basketball team of Bryant Middle School trailed Rose City 16-6 at halftime of their game on Thursday night but came back in the second half including a 10-2 run in the fourth quarter to earn a 32-22 victory.

“It was a great win,” declared Lady Hornets coach DeAnna Ward, regarding the eighth grade game. “We came out sluggish but Alex Wright led the comeback with 10 of her 14 points in the third quarter.”
The Lady Hornets had trailed 6-4 after a quarter. With Wright leading the third-quarter charge, they trimmed the 16-6 deficit to 22-20 then dominated in the fourth quarter.
Wright also had six rebounds. Melinda Murdock contributed 6 points. Katy Stillman and Kaitlyn Greer had 4 each, Becka Shaddon and Destin Nichols 2 apiece. Greer came up with seven steals, Murdock six. Stillman dished out four assists.
In the seventh-grade game all 23 players got into the game for Bryant White which broke out to a 10-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. It was 12-2 at the half, 20-5 by the end of the third quarter.
"It was a great night for the seventh grade girls," Ward stated.
Destiny Huffman led the team with 6 points. Taylor Lindberg and Quabia Patillo pitched in with 4 each. Jayla Anderson, Katie Davidson, Mariah Aguilar, Scarlet Pense and Jaela Hilliard contributed 2 points apiece. Miranda Lawrence led the team with five rebounds while Lindberg gathered four and Anderson made four steals.
The Bryant White eighth grade team will return to action on Monday, Jan. 4, at home against Lakewood of North Little Rock. Both the seventh and eighth grade teams host Ridge Road on Thursday, Jan. 7.
