After defeating the Conway Blue Lady Wampus Kittens by 10 in their previous meeting in Conway, the Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School eked out a 28-26 win at home on Tuesday night.
Maddie Stephens led the way offensively with 8 points. Kelly Williams finished with 6, Paige Adams 5, Jalen Sparks and Raven Loveless 4 each, and Gabby Bonvillain 1.
The Lady Hornets built a 14-8 lead by halftime.
“The girls played hard and did a great job defensively,” stated Lady Hornets coach Kenny Hays. “We had too many turnovers though, especially late in the fourth quarter, and let Conway back in the game. We’re going to have to do a better job running our offense and taking care of the basketball.
“But, on the plus side, we had balanced scoring,” he added. “We’re going to need balanced scoring each game to continue to be successful.”
The Lady Hornets are set to return to action on Thursday at Conway White.
