CABOT — The Bryant White Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School fell victim to a 12-2 run in the third quarter by the Sheridan Stingers on Saturday, Nov. 20. Sheridan held[more] on to win the Cabot Classic tournament, 25-23, over the Hornets.
The Bryant White team includes Logan Moore, Max Sullivan, Austin Montgomery, Robert Meeks, Steven Murdock, Madison Schrader, Connor Tatum, Blake Patterson, Brent Michael Barker, K.J. Hill, Kyron Smith, Bryce Bowen, Mar’kevius Nelson, Brett Fisher, Austin Masters, Hunter Oglesby, J.C. Newborn, Austin Fisher, Daniel Bradford, Blaine Hampton and Hunter Sherman.
The Hornets held a 7-5 lead after a quarter and built it to 13-7 by halftime before Sheridan made its run, taking a 19-15 lead into the fourth quarter.
Nelson led Bryant White with 13 points.
“In the first half, we did a good job of doing the things we want to do as a team,” commented Hornets coach Heath Long, “however, our guys got rattled a little when they got off to a strong start in the third quarter. We have to do a better job of not allowing a swing in momentum to affect us.”
The Hornets are scheduled to play at The Anthony School in Little Rock on Monday, Nov. 29.
