NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Blaise Smith and Kajuan Robinson each scored 8 points and the Bryant White Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School opened play in a tournament in North Little Rock with a 27-21 win over the Watson Chapel Junior Wildcats.
“It was a good win,” stated Hornets coach Heath Long. “We did not execute the way we normally do. Watson Chapel had a lot to do with that.”
The Hornets advance to play Lakewood tonight in the tourney semifinals.
“We will have to execute better if we want to beat Lakewood,” Long said. “However, it is good to know that evan on a night where we didn’t play our best, we could still beat a quality opponent.”
The Hornets held a 5-4 edge after a quarter. They nudged it out to 11-8 by halftime then led 17-12 going into the final period.
Daelin Drake pitched in with 5 points.
Bryant White is now 2-0 on the season.
