Any time a Bryant team plays a Benton team, the records go out the window. And a lot of times, that means the one that may happen to be struggling is just as likely to win as the team that may happen to be thriving.
But tonight, when the freshmen football teams meet at C.W. Lewis Stadium in Benton, the teams come in with identical records of 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the 7A-Central Junior High Conference. A league title is out of the question for both teams, still the winner will finish third and the loser fourth (or fifth depending on Cabot North’s results against Conway White.[more]
Both teams are trying to bounce back after defeat. Last Thursday, the Hornets absorbed a tough loss to North Little Rock, 22-13, while the Panthers were taking a 21-6 hit at the hands of league-leading Cabot South.
Tonight, the Hornets will be trying to extend a six-game winning streak in the series which Benton still leads 17-10-1 since 1986.
There will be an eighth grade game at 5:30 p.m., between Benton and Bryant White of Bryant Middle School. The freshman game should start around 7.
