OMAHA, Neb. — The Papillion, Neb., Monarchs pinned a 3-0 loss on the Bryant Black Senior American Legion team in the semifinals of the annual 19-and-under Battle of Omaha early today.
The Sox were without a half dozen of their players for one reason or another but reportedly got a strong pitching performance from right-hander Devin Dupree.
It was the first loss of the season for the Black Sox, now 20-1. They were 6-0 in the tournament before today.
Bryant is set to host Zone 4 rival Texarkana in a rematch of last summer’s Senior State Tournament final on Wednesday. They’ll play a doubleheader starting at 6 p.m.
