LITTLE ROCK – The Bryant School Board, Scott Hart, David Moore, Sandra Porter, Rhonda Sanders and Joe Wishard, has been named a Master Board by the Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA). The entire board was recognized at[more] the ASBA annual conference in December.
To achieve the Master Board recognition, each member of the local board has earned at least 50 hours of continuing education through workshops, seminars or other board development activities designed to improve their effectiveness. Only five school boards earned the Master Board designation in 2010.
The award is highest board achievement of a professional development program designed by the ASBA Board of Directors to foster ongoing and continuous learning for Arkansas school board members. Training programs focus on Arkansas school law, finance, leadership, responsibilities of Arkansas school board members, community relations, operating effective meetings and current information on a wide range of education-related subjects.
The award recognizes those school board members who take the initiative to continue their training above and beyond the state-mandated six hours of annual board member training required by Arkansas law.
ASBA is a not-for-profit organization that has provided programs and services for all of the state's locally elected school boards for more than 50 years.
