TEXARKANA — Drew Tipton had two hits and Ty Harris combined with Hayden Daniel on a[more] one-hitter over three innings as the Bryant Hornets junior varsity baseball team rolled to a 12-2 win over the Texarkana JV on Tuesday.
The Hornets took advantage of two walks, two hit batsmen and two errors to score five runs in the first, four in the second and three in the third.
The Bryant JV is 8-1 this season going into Friday’s game against Lake Hamilton.
Walks to Austin Caldwell and Chase Tucker opened the game. In between, a pair of passed balls allowed Caldwell to come around to score.
Tucker stole second and Harrison Dale reached on an error. With two down, Dalton Holt and Justin Emmerling were each hit by a pitch to force in a run. Dale scored on a wild pitch then Dylan Hurt got the first hit of the game, a two-run single to left to make it 5-0.
Harris struck out the side around a walk and two-out triple in the home first.
In the second, Tipton ripped a triple and scored when Caldwell reached on a third strike wild pitch. Tucker doubled to plate Caldwell then Evan Lee singled him to third. Lee advanced on a groundout as Tucker held at third but Emmerling’s base hit brought them both in to make it 9-1.
Three walks and a wild pitch allowed Texarkana to score in the bottom of the second but Bryant answered with three more in the top of the third. Connor Tatum lined a single to center, took second on a passed ball and third on a base hit by Tipton. An error allowed Tatum to score and Tipton crossed the plate when Tucker’s fly was misplayed. He would score moments later on a passed ball to set the final score.
