Bryant Middle School’s Tammy Lambert has received the Bessie B. Moore Award given by the Arkansas Economic Council for excellence in teaching economics. Lambert received $1,000 grand prize for a paper that she wrote on how she incorporated economics into her classroom.[more]
“I wrote about a lesson I did last spring involving students and entrepreneurship in our area,” Lambert said.
Currently teaching World History at Bryant Middle Schoo, Lambert is also incorporating economics into her curriculum.
“I do this through the stock market game in the fall and in the spring,” she explained. “I also have students complete economic projects throughout the year to teach supply/demand, entrepreneurship, world economic systems, free enterprise, decision making and other economic terms.”
Lambert will gain recognition at an awards luncheon held at Chenal Valley Country Club in Little Rock this December. She has won this award in the past.
According to the Economics Arkansas website, “The legacy of Bessie B. Moore, founder of Economics Arkansas, is alive and well as evidenced through this program honoring outstanding elementary and secondary teachers throughout the state.”
The teachers that are recognized with the award have successfully integrated economic principles into their classrooms and related them to students' real life experiences.
