Bryant High School has made the lone bid to host the 2016 Class 7A State softball tournament as the Arkansas Activities Association released the bids made for 2016.
Bryant last hosted the softball State tourney in 2012 when the Lady Hornets claimed the third of their consecutive State championships.
The Lady Hornets open the 2016 season with a benefit game against Sylvan Hills on Feb. 25. The regular season opens at Beebe on March 1. The State Tournament is schedule for May 12-14 with the State title game at Bogle Park at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Last year, Bryant hosted the Class 7A State girls soccer tournament and the Lady Hornets soccer team claimed its first title.
The AAA also announced bids made for 7A State tournaments in other sports with Cabot bidding for basketball this spring; North Little Rock for baseball; Springdale for soccer; Bentonville for swimming and diving; Conway for track and field; Russellville for the Meet of Champs. Cabot and Fayetteville each put in bids for the Decathlon/Heptathlon.
Bids for fall sports were made by Lake Hamilton (at Oaklawn Park) in cross country and Springdale for volleyball.
