On Monday, April 27, the Bryant Lady Hornets junior varsity softball team won one and lost one as they took on the Vilonia Lady Eagles’ and the Benton Lady Panthers’ JV teams.
In the 7-3 win over Vilonia, Kerrigan Allen pitched all five innings, giving up three unearned runs.
At the plate, Baylee Rowton was 3 for 3 with two doubles and three runs batted in. Keely Allen went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles.
“This was a good win for the girls because we lost to Vilonia last week,” said Bryant assistant coach Nathan Castaldi. “It was good to see the girls bounce back and play like they were capable of playing.”
Of the 7-1 loss to Benton, the coach said, “After beating Vilonia, we lost the momentum early in this game. The first couple of innings we failed to score with runners on and Benton did not. This led to a 5-0 deficit that we were not able to overcome.
“We did do a better job defensively as the game wore on,” he added.
The lone run for the Lady Hornets was a solo homer run by Sarah Evans.
