Landon Pickett took a three-hit shutout into the fifth inning and Dylan Pritchett had three hits and four runs batted in as the Bryant Hornets junior varsity forged an 8-2 win over the Conway JV on Tuesday night.

Pickett, Tyler Nelson and Lucas Castleberry each had two hits for the Hornets who jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first. Hayden Daniel and Pickett walked then worked a double steal before Pritchett lined a double to left-center to drive both home. Castleberry doubled in Pritchett then took third on a groundout by Josh Pultro. Dylan Cross walked and Marcus Wilson reached on an error as Castleberry scored the fourth run.
After Pickett worked around a two-out double in the top of the second, the Hornets added a run on a double by Nelson and a two-out RBI single by Pritchett.
The Hornets turned a doubleplay to negate one of the two singles Conway came up with in the top of the third. In the fourth, a one-out walk was eliminated when Cross threw the runner out trying to steal second.
Bryant made it an 8-0 game in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, Nelson lined a single to right, Pickett laced a single to left and Pritchett cracked his third hit, an RBI single to make it 6-0. A late throw home allowed Pickett to take third and Pritchett to reach second for Castleberry who bounced a single into left to chase them both home.
An infield hit and an errant throw gave Conway a chance to score in the bottom of the inning. A single to left put runners at the corners. Pickett got the second out on strikes as the trail runner stole second. A single to right drove them both home. But Pickett got the next batter to ground out to short to end the game.
