EMERSON, Ga. — Suffering a 7-4 loss to the Rawlings Arkansas Prospects of North Little Rock on Saturday, the Bryant Everett Buick-GMC Black Sox were set to play a consolation game at the Perfect Game-East Cobb Invitational wood bat showcase on Sunday.
The Sox will face Baseball Scoutz of Evans, Ga.
A six-run first by Rawlings put the Sox under the gun. They whittled a run off the margin in the second and three more in the fifth to get within 6-4 but stranded a runner at third and couldn’t muster another base-runner over the final two frames as reliever Luke Bandy retired all six batters he faced to end the game. Rawlings tacked on an insurance tally in the top of the seventh.
Two of Bryant’s three errors came in the six-run first.
In the Sox’ home second, Jordan Gentry singled and courtesy runner Beaux Bonvillain advanced to second on a passed ball. He tagged and went to third on Aaron Orender’s fly to right then scored on the play as well before Cameron Coleman walked.
The Sox could get nothing going against until the bottom of the fifth when a two-out rally began with a walk to Seth Tucker. Logan Allen followed with a triple to drive him home. Allen followed across the plate when Garrett Misenheimer reached on an error.
The inning continued with base hits by Alex Shurtleff and Dylan Hurt to bring Misenheimer around, making it 6-4.
