SHERWOOD — Despite a challenging pin placement and green conditions, Drew Castleberry fired a nine-hole round of 37 to earn individual medalist honors at a golf match at North Hills Country Club on Monday.
North Little Rock captured team honors by three strokes over the Hornets, 170-173.
Senior Peyton Weaver carded a 43 to finish second individually for the Lady Hornets.
“The pin placement had to be the hardest one they have available,” said Bryant coach Keith Dale. “The greens were cut short, rolled and sanded that morning, making a putt stick next to impossible. The kids had a very hard time. The guys wanted their scores to disappear and the girls wanted to burn their scorecards too.”
Tanner Caton carded a 44 for the Hornets with Logan Moore and Peyton Sharp turning in rounds of 46. Nick Canale had a 47.
For the girls, Abby McGee shot a 52 with Savanna Cathey finishing at 57. Tiffany Robinson shot 62 and Katy Edwards 65.
The Bryant JV is scheduled to play at Sheridan Country Club today. The next varsity match is set for North Little Rock’s Emerald Park course on Monday, Sept. 16.
