Bryant High School football coach Paul Calley reports that all-State safety Dijon Benton has signed to continue his football career at Ouachita Baptist University and two-time all-State linebacker Austin Humbard has signed to play at Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma City, Okla.
"I think Dijon will be able to go in and contribute right away," Calley stated, "just because of the people that graduated at Ouachita and his ability will allow him to play early.
"The same thing with Humbard," he added. "Humbard's smart, strong, physical. I believe he can help them right away."
Humbard, Calley said, will be joined by 2008 graduate, Jared Szabad, at Southern Nazarene.
In addition, offensive tackle Jordan Jacobs has been invited to walk on at Arkansas State University. Quarterback Ethan Powell will also be walking on at ASU. Running back/linebacker Aspen Trevino has announced he'll be walking on at Henderson.
"Jordan is probably a couple of years away from playing at ASU but the coaches really feel like he's going to develop," Calley mentioned. "He's just a good football player. They felt like he can earn a scholarship in a couple of years.
"Ethan's going as an athlete," he added. "They told him he might be able to play quarterback but they'd like for him to be able to play other positions just to have a chance to contribute earlier."
