Bryant Animal Control Director Tricia Power announced today that Bryant is officially in the running for the $100,000 grand prize in the annual “Pet Safe Bark for your Park” grant competition. This annual event allows communities from all over the United States to vie for a prize of $100,000 to build a dog park in their community, as well as four runner-up prizes of $25,000 each.
“We are so excited to be a part of this event,” said Power, “but to win we need everyone in the community to support our efforts.”
Initial voting is now underway and will continue until June 10, 2015.
“The company will notify who has made it to the final round,” said Power. “Finalists have to really amp up the voting, which will then continue until July 22, 2015.”
Last year, Bryant was one of the top communities in Arkansas, getting beat out by Conway.
“Conway now has a beautiful dog park so that opens the door for Bryant in regard to in-state competition,” Power said. “But you do not have to live in Bryant or even in the state to vote for a community here in Arkansas. This means friends and family from all over can vote to help us make a dog park in Bryant a reality.”
To help Bryant win the prize money, individuals need to vote for Bryant twice each day: once on Facebook, using the Bark for your Park 2015 app, then again at the Pet Safe Company’s website, www.petsafe.com/BarkforyourPark.
“Once you vote, share the links with your family and friends adding the hashtag #BarkForBryant and set your reminders to come back and do the same thing again the next day,” Power said.
