Lowery and Nossaman defeated Conway’s Luke Martin and Taylor West, 8-5, in the opening round of the league tourney.[more]
(Because of weather conditions which necessitated the move of the tournament from Rebsamen Park to the Little Rock Racquet Club, the matches were reduced from two of three sets to an eight-game pro set.)
After a second-round loss to eventual champions Riley Colton and Austin Crawford of Little Rock Central, 0-8, the Bryant pair bounced back to oust Ben Lanier and Taylor Needham of Van Buren, 8-6, to earn no worse than the No. 6 spot. In a battle for fifth, Nossaman and Lowery were defeated by Matt Sherman and Chris Yeatman of Central, 3-8.
Sherman and Yeatman had opened the tournament with an 8-1 win over Bryant’s No. 2 doubles team, Logan Porter and Devon Norris.
The rest of the Bryant contingent at the league tourney endured a rough day. In boys singles, Cody Higgins was knocked off by Michael Town of Catholic, 0-8. At No. 2, Kyle Martin was defeated by Catholic’s No. 1, Andrew Fox, 0-8. Fox went on to finish as the tournament runner-up.
In girls doubles, Bryant’s No. 1 duo of Allie and Callie Hogancamp was knocked out by Van Buren’s Dannah Dix and Priscilla Diaz, 2-8.
The No. 2 team of Kelsey Stephens and Courtnie Klaus was ousted by Conway’s Tess Bradford and Alex Taylor.
In girls singles, Alex Hughes fell to Central’s Katie Holcomb, 2-8, and Autumn Rouse lost to eventual champion Rebecca Bailey of Mount St. Mary’s, 0-8.
