FORT SMTIH — The Bryant soccer coaches have made it an annual trip to the Fort Smith Invitational Tournament. It’s a chance to measure their teams’ progress, see where there’s work that still needs to be done, against some of the best Class 7A teams in the state.
For Jason Hay’s Hornets, the tourney started with a 2-0 loss to the Fayetteville Bulldogs on Friday night. On Saturday, they were edged by Fort Smith Southside 1-0 before finishing with a 2-2 tie against Central Conference rival Van Buren.
“We played better on Saturday,” stated Hay. “We were down 0-2 at the half of the last game but fought back to tie.
“We had our chances and could not finish,” he related. “I liked the effort. We just need to keep working to find a way to win.”
Jhorman Crus and Dylan Wolf had the Hornets’ goals. Ricky Barrientos assisted on Wolf’s goal.
The Hornets are set to play at North Little Rock on Tuesday, March 10.
