TEXARKANA — The Bryant Hornets improved to 6-0 in the 7A/6A-South Conference and 11-1-1 overall[more] with a 5-1 win over the Arkansas High Razorbacks at Texarkana Tuesday night.
Josh Lowery had two goals and Dylan Wolf, Bryce Denker and Justin Travis each had one to build a 5-0 lead. Texarkana, playing against the Bryant reserves managed to break the shutout in the final five minutes of play. It was just the four goal scored against the Hornets in those six league outings, only the seventh they’ve surrendered all season so far.
Bryant hosts Lake Hamilton on Friday. The Wolves came into Tuesday night’s game against third-place Benton still unbeaten in conference play.
Denker got the Hornets on the board at the 22-minute mark of the first half. Wolf had the assist. At 11:35, Denker returned the favor as Wolf found the back of the net. And, in the final minute of the half, Lowery got his first goal as Denker recorded the second of his three assists.
The third of those feeds came with 27:30 left to play. Again Lowery was the recipient and drilled his second goal.
Travis put the finishing touches on the win with a goal off a pass from Wolf with 14:34 to go.
“We were patient,” noted Hornets coach Jason Hay. “I thought we possessed the ball well. We played better.
“I thought Texarkana played well,” he noted. “They were well coached and moved the ball well. It was a pretty good game.”
