CONWAY — Called “by far our best game of the year,” by head coach Dominic Lincoln, the Bryant Blue Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School ran out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter on the way to a 29-19 win over Conway Blue at Bob Courtway Middle School on Monday.
“Our free-throw improvement was big,” Lincoln said. “The score doesn’t show how good we actually played. Our starters played limited time, only the first and third quarters.”
Randy Thomas led the Hornets with 11 points.
After the fast start, Conway Blue cut the lead to 10-8 by halftime but, the Hornets again outscored the Wampus Cats 10-0 in the third quarter to make it 20-8 going into the final period.
Bryant Blue’s next assignment is this Thursday when they travel to Bryant Middle School to take on Bryant White.
“It’s a big game,” Lincoln said. “Bryant Middle is a really, really good team.”
