BENTON — Though the teams split the first two games of their match at Panthers Arena, the Benton Junior Lady Panthers eighth grade team managed to win the rubber game on Thursday night, resulting in the first loss of the season for the Bryant Blue Lady Hornets of Bethel Middle School.
Bethel had won its first nine matches of the season but fell to Benton, 22-25, 28-26, 10-15.
“I was very proud of how the girls played,” said Lady Hornets coach Melissa Bragg. “They didn’t get down and they didn’t give up. Even though we lost, we are not defeated.”
Brittney Warner led Bryant Blue with three aces. Ashlyn Lee, Reagan Dabbs and Katelin Cotton had two each. Tori Allen, Lee and Warner each had a kill with Lee providing two assists.
The Lady Hornets will return to action in a tournament at North Little Rock on Saturday.
