LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Blue Hornets rallied in the fourth quarter for a 22-19 win over Little Rock Christian to capture the seventh grade championshiop of the Wildcat Classic[more] at Episcopal Collegiate Academy on Saturday.
The team includes Logan Allen, Gunnar Burks, Blake Carnahan, Drew Carnahan, Drew Castleberry, Daniel Darbonne, Tanner Ezell, Alex Falco, Nic Feeko, Lawson Fincher, Jordan Gentry, Nic Hardin, Devin Howard, Aaron Orender, Jacob Pipken, Grayson Ruple and Ethan Southard.
“We played our toughest opponent to date and I am very proud of what this team was able to accomplish this week,” stated Hornets coach Derek McGrew. “These kids are competing, trying to do what I ask, and are getting the job done.”
The Hornets fell behind 7-0 in the first quarter and trailed 13-8 at the half. Little Rock Christian led 17-14 going into the final period.
“Little Rock Christian really hurt us with their size,” McGrew related. “They had way too many offensive rebounds.”Allen led the Hornets with 9 points on three 3-pointers during the second half rally. Gentry added 7, Ezell 4 and Howard 2.
Now 5-1, the Blue Hornets seventh graders host Cabot North on Teusday.
