BEEBE — The Bryant Blue Hornets seventh grade track team from Bethel Middle School won a meet at Beebe on Monday with 109 points.
Houston Clifton won the 1600 meters and the 800 meters while Brenden Young turned in a first-place finish in the 110 hurdles to lead the way.
Clifton ran a 5:29 to win the 1600. In the 800, he finished in 2:25. Young’s winning time in the hurdles was 15.88.[more]
Clifton also contributed a leg to the Hornets’ winning effort in the 1600 meter relay. He joined Brice Hardin, Brandon Warner and Nic Townsend to record a winning time of 4:18.
Brushawn Hunter scored in five individual events and helped on a relay for Bryant Blue. He was second in the long jump with a leap of 16-7 as well as the triple jump where he covered 34-11 with Clifton fifth at 31-8.
Hunter was third in the high jump, clearing 5-0. John Winn was fourth also going over at 5-0.
In the sprints, Hunter was third in the 100, finishing in 12.1. Clark Garland was sixth for the Hornets in a time of 12.6. In the 200, Hunter was fourth in 26.84 with Garland eighth in 27.25.
That duo joined Warner and Hardin in the 400 meter relay for a third-place finish.
Bryant Blue also picked up second-place points from Hunter Fugitt in the discus with a toss of 103 feet. Townsend contributed a third-place finish in the 400, finishing in 1:02.
