“It was a long day,” said Hornets coach Derek McGrew. “Playing three games in a five-hour span was tough but our depth really helped. We carried 11 boys and all scored.
“This team is solid,” he added. “I feel they are understanding what we want to do. First off, play good sound man defense; second, score in transition; lastly, be able to execute in the half court. I was very proud of these young me today.”
In the championship game, John Winn finished with 13 points. Brandon Warner added 7, Austin Green and Brushawn Hunter 6 each. Dylan Wolf, Paul Tierney, Blaine Knight and Mark Winn pitched in with 2 apiece and Andrew Kincaid hit a free throw.
In the win over Little Rock Christian, John Winn went for 19 with Mark Winn adding 7 points. Jason Hastings and Warner scored 5 apiece with Hunter finishing with 4 and Green 2.
Warner drilled five 3’s in the opener on his way to a game-high 19 points. John Winn and Hunter each scored 8 with Wolf contributing 3. Kincaid and Hastings finished with 2 apiece and Mark Winn 1.
The team is scheduled to return to action Monday night at home against Morrilton.
