LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School raced to[more] a 12-2 lead in the first quarter on the way to a 30-22 win over the host team in the championship game of the Anthony School Classic Thursday night.
Kendal Rogers scored 9 points. Penny Smith added 8, Regan McCormick 5 with Riley Hill pitching in with 4. Kasey Ward and Sarah Kennedy finished with 2 each. Hill hauled down nine rebounds. Smith had five and Ward four.
“Kendal got us off to a great start and played really well for us,” said Lady Hornets coach Rhonda Hall. “Penny Smith came through with some big baskets for us.”
The Lady Hornets led 22-14 at the half, 24-18 going into the fourth quarter.
The win improved Bryant Blue to 3-1 on the season going into a game against Benton on Monday at 5 p.m., at the Bryant Middle School gym.
