The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets volleyball teams from Bethel Middle School earned straight-set victories on Thursday, Sept. 1. The eighth grade team improved to 3-0 by defeating the Anthony School 25-7, 25-18. For the seventh grade team from Bethel, their 25-11, 25-19 win opened their 2016 schedule.
In the eighth grade team’s win, Ella Reynolds, Ashton Inman and Lucie Van Roekel each had kills. Reynods and Inman added a block apiece. Abbey Inman had three assists.
At the service line, Reynolds and Ashton Inman came through with two aces each. Lexi Feagin and Olivia German contributed an ace apiece as well.
“The girls are really playing well together,” said Lady Hornets coach Melissa Bragg. “They are getting more consistent with their hitting and passing. They are a fun group to coach.”
Regarding the seventh grade victory, Bragg said, “Jade Rivers put together 14 serves with 2 aces. Lauren Baker had an ace and Claire Watson was 9 for 11 serving. Our serving really helped us win.”
The Lady Hornets eighth grade team is set to return to action on Monday, Sept. 12, against Cabot South at the Bryant Middle School gym. The seventh grade team’s next outing is Tuesday, Sept. 13, at home against Bryant White.
