LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School outscored the Lighthouse Charter Lady Wolves of Jacksonville, 12-0 in the first quarter and never looked back on the way to a 44-10 win Monday night.
The game opened the Wildcat Shootout Classic at Episcopal Collegiate for the Lady Hornets who are set to play again today at 4 p.m., against the host team then finish the event on Thursday at 4 against Arkansas Baptist.
Raija Todd poured in 21 points and dished out three assists to lead the Lady Hornets who improved to 3-0. Danielle Singleton pitched in with 10 points and three steals. Raelae Benton scored 6 points, Bailey Rowton, Katie Evans and Claire Ausbrooks 2 each, and Stephanie Cullen 1.
Shelby Hope led the team with five rebounds. Rowton and Cadie Anderson collected three each. Abby Henson contributed three steals.
“I enjoyed watching the effort the girls gave in the game,” stated Bethel coach Rhonda Hall. “We played much harder and gave the effort I want to see each game.”
After taking the 12-0 lead, the Lady Hornets held a 20-5 advantage at the half. It was 36-10 going into the fourth quarter.
