LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Blue Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School bounced back from just their second loss of the season with a 52-29 thumping of The Anthony School eighth grade team on Monday night.
The Blue seventh grade team also cruised to victory, 49-22.[more]
The eighth grade team improved to 11-2. They broke out to a 9-3 lead in the first quarter and increased the margin to 25-11 by halftime. It was 41-27 going into the fourth quarter.
Nine players got in on the scoring led by Chase Christie’s 19 points. Trevor Ezell and Chase Thornton each had 9, Bryce Denker 6, Garrett Phillips 3. Davis Nossaman and Jacob Irby added 2 apiece. Phillip Barnett and Evan Davis each hit a free throw.
In the seventh grade game, Bryant improved to 8-1. A 17-6 outburst by the end of the first quarter put them in control of the game. It was 33-12 at the half, 41-20 going into the final period.
John Winn’s 15 points paced the effort. Brandon Warner added 9, Mark Winn 7, Jason Hastings 6. Austin Green and Andrew Kincaid pitched in with 4 each. Dylan Wolf and Ryan Hall added 2 apiece.
The Blue eighth graders are scheduled to host Hot Springs Lakeside on Thursday. The next seventh grade outing will be Monday, Feb. 1, against Bryant White.
