FAYETTEVILLE — The Bryant Hornets golf team placed fifth in a field of 14 teams and third in among[more] 7A-Central Conference teams at the Class 7A State Tournament at Fayetteville Country Club today.
The Hornets will compete for team and individual championships on Tuesday.
Led by Tyler Green’s 18-hole round of three-over-par 73, the Hornets compiled a team score of 306 just seven strokes behind first-day leader Conway at 299. In between, Fayetteville finished the day second at 302 followed by Cabot at 304 and Bentonville at 305. Catholic was sixth at 308.
“The championship tomorrow is still up for grabs,” noted Hornets coach Keith Dale.
Chase Thornton turned in a round of 76. Austin Harmon carded a 78 with Ashton Green at 79. Nick Canale shot 81 to complete the Bryant quintet.
From the back tees the FCC course plays to 6208 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4822 yards. The longest hole on the course is No. 5, a par-5 that plays to 537 yards. The shortest hole on the course is No. 17, a par-3 that plays to 163 yards from the back tees.
