MOSES LAKE, Wash. — The Bryant 14-year-old All-Stars finished pool play as the second seeded team from the National Division at the Babe Ruth World Series and will begin play in the single-elimination championship tournament tonight. Bryant takes on Longwood, Fla., the third-seeded team from the American Division, tonight at 8 p.m. Pacific (10 p.m., Central).
With a win, Bryant would play the American Division’s top team, Westchester, Calif., in the semifinals on Friday, playing for a berth in the World Series championship game on Saturday.
After an opening loss to Clifton Park, N.Y., Bryant came roaring back with three lopsided wins in pool play to earn the 2 seed behind the New York team, which finished unbeaten in the pool.
Bryant, the Southwest Regional champion, is managed by Jerry East. The players are Logan Allen, Drew Brown, Cameron Coleman, Jake East, Lawson Fincher, Jeffrey Hastings, Dylan Hurt, Austin Kelly, Hayden Knowles, Preston Kyzer, Garrett Misenheimer, Aaron Orender, Kyle Sahr, Alex Shurtleff and Diego Vargas.
Both Bryant and Longwood had Wednesday off while the rest of the teams finished pool play.
