GULFPORT, Miss. — The Bryant 9-year-old All-Stars have advanced to the semifinals of the Regional Tournament in Cal Ripken baseball action over the weekend. Bryant whipped through pool play undefeated, earning the No. 1 seed for the single-elimination championship tournament. On Sunday, they opened the tournament with a 16-11 win over Jonesboro. In pool play, Bryant run-ruled all three opponents, beating Long Beach, Miss., 13-3, then Twin Rivers, 12-2, and Bentonville, Ark., 16-0.
The tournament features 17 teams from four states (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas).
Bryant's 9-year-olds, coached by Bill Kyzer, include Myers Buck, Luke Curtis, Caleb Dorsey, Brooks Ellis, Hunter Hilson, Dylan Johnson, Preston Kyzer, Hayden Mills, Blake Pennington, Matthew Sandidge, Scott Schmidt, Larry Thompson and Cooper Wright.
