The Bryant All-Stars, champions of Arkansas as well as the Southwest Regional Tournament, will be[more] joining teams from across the country this week in Kitsap, Wash., for the 2012 13-year-old Babe Ruth World Series.
Pool play begins Wednesday, Aug. 15, with Bryant playing the prime time game at 7:30 p.m., against the host Kitsap team.
The Bryant team is managed by Jerry East with assistance from Rick Brown and Randy Kelly. The team includes Logan Allen, Drew Brown, Cameron Coleman, Jake East, Jeffery Hastings, Dylan Hurt, Austin Kelly, Hayden Knowles, Garrett Misenheimer, Aaron Orender, Kyle Sahr, Shurtleff and Diego Vargas.
Kitsap and Bryant are part of the National Division at the tournament, along with New England Regional champion Westfield, Mass.; Midwest Plains champion Waite Park, Minn.; and Pacific Northwest champion, Meridian, Idaho.
Bryant plays Meridian on Thursday at 1 p.m.; Westfield, Mass. On Friday at 1 p.m.; then wraps up pool play against Waite Park, Minn., on Saturday at 10 a.m.
The top three teams from each pool will advance to a single-elimination bracket with the top seeds earning first-round byes. Those games will start Monday, Aug. 20.
The American Division includes Middle Atlantic Regional champion, Monroe Township, N.J.; Southeast champion, Greenville, N.C.; Ohio Valley champion, Schererville, Ind.; Pacific Southwest champion Tri-Valley, Calif.; and Northern Washington State champion, Skagit Valley, Wash.
Bryant enters the Series with a 13-0 record, having outscored its opponents by a combined 184-28 while rolling through District, State and Regional tournaments.
