The Bryant 12-year-old Blue team captured the tournament championship of the first leg of the Everett GMC Triple Crown on Sunday with a[more] 7-3 win over the Rawlings Arkansas Prospects of North Little Rock.
The team is made up of players from the 12 year Blue League from Bryant Athletic Association.
Members are Myers Buck, Luke Curtis, Caleb Dorsey, Brooks Ellis, Joe Green, Christian Harp, Boston Heil, Brandon Hoover, Zack Kemp, Preston Kyzer, Dylan McKinney, Grayson Prince, Matthew Sandidge, Scott Schmidt, Jacob Stroud, and Ethan Thompson.
The team is managed by Bill Kyzer with assistance from Chris McKinney and Kirk Schmidt.
To get to the finals, the team came out of the lowest seed from the eight-team pool play after absorbing losses to the Benton Panthers, 9-4, and the Greenbrier Panthers, 11-9.
That set up a tough first-round game in bracket play against the top-seeded South Arkansas Titans on Saturday evening but Bryant knocked off the Titans, 2-1.
In the semifinals, Bryant got a rematch with the Benton Panthers and avenged the earlier loss with a 6-5 victory, sending them to the championship game against the North Little Rock team. Bryant grabbed the lead early and never trailed on the way to the championship win.
