OCALA, Fla. — It may not have gone as well as they would’ve liked but the Bryant 10-year-old All-Stars were playing baseball long after team after team across the country had hung up their cleats.
They made it to the Cal Ripken World Series.
Bryant’s 10-year-old team, coached by Greg Riggs with assistance from Scott Allison, Scott Curtis and Matt Orender, includes Aiden Adams, Kannon Allison, Tyler Bates, Clay Curtis, River Gregory, Will Hathcote, Cameron McDonald, Trey Miller, Justin Orender, Ryan Riggs, Austin Schroeder, Blaine Sears, Brandon Thomisee and Josh Turner.
On Wednesday, the team completed pool play at the Series and suffered their fourth loss in as many games. Bismarck, N.D., scored seven runs in the first inning and never looked back on the way to a 14-0 win.
Bryant was limited to two hits, a single by Adams in the second inning and a double by Schroeder in the third.
The only other base-runners came in the first when Schroeder reached on an error and, in the fourth, when Riggs reached on a miscue.
Bismarck scored two runs in the second and put the game away with five in the top of the fourth.
