Shane Broadway is from Bryant and he believes that family is most important to his life. That is the theme for his campaign for Arkansas' Lt. Governor.
Broadway was born the youngest of six children to Charles and Bertha Broadway, long-time Bryant residents.[more]
"They met while my father was working on a highway construction project in Cross County and my mother waswaitressing at the Yellow Jacket Cafe," Broadway said. "They formed a family and moved right here to Saline Countyto raise us. They worked hard to provide for our lives and to make it better."
Broadway's father was a World War II veteran and left in the eighth grade to join the United States Navy.
"He came home, started working in highway construction and ended up retiring with the Arkansas HighwayDepartment," Broadway said. "After I was born, every two weeks my father would put aside money to buy savingsbonds in hopes that I would go to college. At the age of 5, I started my first job cleaning the First Baptist Church inBryant."
Today, Broadway and his wife Debbie live in the same Bryant neighborhood where he grew up.
"We are blessed to be surrounded by a strong, loving family, as so many Arkansans are," he said.
On his website, www.shanebroadway.com, he has a new video on family that explains his position in the upcomingelection.
"Now that I’m running for Lieutenant Governor those are the same values I want to carry with me: hard work, saving and education, three important components to moving our state forward," Broadway said. "You can trust that as Lieutenant Governor I will fight to cut taxes for hard working Arkansas families, continue to work on improving our educational system — from Pre-K to college to job training programs — and protect our seniors who made this state what it is today."
