EL DORADO — Trey Breeding clubbed a two-run homer in the top of the fifth and a trio[more] of pitchers combined on a two-hitter over five frames as the Bryant Hornets junior varsity forged a 6-1 win over the El Dorado Wildcats JV Tuesday at the El Dorado/Union County Recreation Complex.
Sophomore Ty Harris allowed one hit and a walk, while striking out six in the first three innings of the game. Harris moved to Bryant from El Dorado prior to his freshman season. Hayden Daniel fanned two more in a scoreless fourth then Devin Dupree finished up, surrendering a lone unearned run on a double, an error and a sacrifice fly before bringing the game to a conclusion.
Austin Caldwell had two hits for Bryant. Along with Breeding, Evan Lee and Justin Emmerling added hits.
The game was scoreless for the first three innings. In the fourth, the Hornets put together a two-out uprising starting with Breeding getting plunked by a pitch. After Harrison Dale walked, Lee sliced a single to left to load the bases. A wild pitch allowed Breeding to score then when Dalton Holt’s grounder to short was booted, two more scored to make it 3-0.
Emmerling cracked a double to right to send Holt to third. He scored from there on a passed ball.
After Daniel eased through the bottom of the fourth, Caldwell doubled with one out in the top of the fifth. With two down, Breeding blasted his homer to make it 6-0.
