While rain and lightning create havoc with their games (along with those of the Bryant Senior team) scheduled in the Keith Hagen All-American wood bat tournament in Memphis this weekend, the Everett Black Sox of Bryant were notified of the brackets for the 16-team Zone Tournament to be held in Sheridan starting Saturday. The double-elimination tourney will conclude with the two final teams advancing to the Junior Legion State Tournament in North Little Rock scheduled for July 12-16.
The Sox are set to take on the Benton Panthers in the very first game of the Zone tournament at 10 a.m., on Saturday, when 14 of the 16 teams will play their openers at the tourney. The Little Rock Cobras and Little Rock Pythons will open on Sunday at 10 a.m., then join the rest of the teams for second-round action the rest of the day.
Here’s the schedule for the opening round. Games 1 through 4 and 8will be played on the main field at Sheridan’s ballpark. Games 4, 5, and 6 will be played on the alternate field.
