LITTLE ROCK — It'll be almost like a regular-season game night on Wednesday, Feb. 29, between[more] Bryant and Bentonville, except the boys will go first and the games will be held at Panther Arena in Cabot.
Oh, and it will be the first round of the 7A-State Tournament.
Bryant's Lady Hornets, despite a disappointing loss at Little Rock Central, 45-36, on Friday night, held on to the No. 4 seed from the 7A-Central Conference because the team trailing them in the point standings, West Memphis, also lost by a 56-29 score to Little Rock Parkview. Bentonville is the No. 5 seed from the 7A-West and will take on the Lady Hornets next week in the 7 p.m. game.
The Hornets, meanwhile, needed a win or a North Little Rock loss, to earn a No. 2 seed and a first-round bye but, on a basket with :02.6 left, Little Rock Central kept its hopes alive for the post-season with a 43-41 win over Bryant on Friday. North Little Rock defeated Van Buren so the Charging Wildcats gained the second seed and Bryant dropped to No. 3.
That sets up a first-round State tourney contest with the Bentonville Tigers next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., the game right before the Bryant-Bentonville girls game.
