LITTLE ROCK — Mary Catherine Selig scored 14 points as the Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School opened the annual Wildcat Shootout with a 27-9 win over the hosting Little Rock Episcopal Lady Wildcats on Monday night.
The win improved the Lady Hornets to 2-2 going into tourney games against the Anthony School on Wednesday at 6 p.m., and E-Stem on Thursday at 4.
The team will try to avenge both of its losses in the game against Anthony School.
The Bethel seventh grade girls are set to play in the tournament with games against E-Stem tonight at 6 and Episcopal on Wednesday at 4.
On Monday, the Lady Hornets pushed to a 6-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and held a 12-6 lead at the half. They then held Episcopal to 1 point in the third quarter as the margin expanded to 20-7.
Rachel Studdard scored 6 points for Blue. Lauren Burnett, Megan Lee and Evelyn Rigsby added 2 each. Grace Ovellette hit a free throw.
