LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School bounced back from their first loss[more] of the season — a one-pointer against The Anthony School on Monday — with a 32-23 win over Little Rock Episcopal Collegiate on Tuesday.
The Bryant Blue team includes Annamarie Blair, Isabella Bluemmel, Julie Brazil, Nikki Clay, Haley Dellis, Brittany Kelley, Mercedes Dillard, Yessenia Gasper, Katelyn Giffin, Emily Henson, Allison Hughes, Jamie Jamison, Rylee Phillips, Saide Powers, and Dominque West.
The Lady Hornets will take on E-Stem, a team from a public charter school in Little Rock, on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. With a win, they would advance to the championship game on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
“We had a good game,” stated Lady Hornets coach Rhonda Hall. “The girls played extremely hard and had a great team effort.”
Hughes and Phillips led Bryant Blue with 9 points each. Phillips also hauled down nine rebounds. Clay added 8 points with Powers, Dellis and West contributing 2 each. Jamison collected six rebounds with Dellis and Gaspar each gathering five.
The Lady Hornets, now 3-1, led 5-2 after a quarter and, by halftime, had pushed out to a 20-10 lead. It was 28-15 going into the fourth quarter.
