LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Blue Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School advanced to the second round of the Wildcat Classic at Episcopal Collegiate on Tuesday night with[more] a 36-14 win over Rose City.
The team includes Jake Acord, Austin Green, Ryan Hall, Jason Hastings, Brushawn Hunter, Andrew Kincaid, Blaine Knight, Brian Tackett, Paul Tierney, Brandon Warner, John Winn, Mark Winn, Dylan Wolfe and Brendan Young.
Warner scored 14 points to lead the way. John Winn added 9, Hastings and Hall had 4 each, Knight 3 and Mark Winn 2.
The Hornets, now 5-3, held a tenuous 7-6 lead after quarter but broke the game open in the second holding Rose City to 2 points. It was 20-8 at the half and 33-14 going into the fourth quarter.
Bryant Blue will return to action on Thursday at the Bryant Middle School gym against Conway White. They’ll play again in the Classic on Friday against Little Rock Christian. Both games will start at 5 p.m.
