LITTLE ROCK — Tyler O’Neal scored 13 points and Michael Chatman 12 as the Bryant Blue Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School forged a 45-36 win over the Little Rock Episcopal Wildcats in the opening round of Episcopal’s annual Wildcat Shootout on Monday night.
“It was by far the best game we’ve played so far this season,” declared Hornets coach Dominic Lincoln, whose team improved to 3-1 going into a Shootout game against E-Stem on Thursday. “We executed a lot better last night.
“We still have a long way to go though,” he added, “because there is still tons of room for improvement.”
O’Neal drained a trio of 3-pointers in the win. Chatman also hauled down six rebounds.
“Tyler was big for us,” Lincoln said. “And Michael was also a big help. He went a perfect 6 for 6 from the field.”
The Bethel seventh grade team is also competing in the Shootout. It’s set to play tonight at 7 against E-Stem then again on Thursday against Episcopal.
