CABOT — In a three-team wrestling match on Tuesday, Jan. 12, the Bryant Hornets edged the Van Buren Pointers, 39-36, but lost to Cabot, 46-28.
For Bryant, sophomores O’Dell Lee and Seth Bryant along with senior Jonathan Roberts went 2-0 in their matches for the night.[more]
“Those guys dominated,” declared Hornets coach Elliott Jacobs.
Despite the loss to Cabot, Jacobs said it was an encouraging improvement.
“Last year, we only scored six points against Cabot,” he noted, “So our kids can now see the hard work paying off. We are still young with six of the 14 wrestlers we put out there freshmen. Our goal is to continue to improve each week so by the time we wrestle at State, Feb. 19-20, we are wrestling at a peak performance.”
Although the schedule has been adjusted since the beginning of the season, the Hornets were scheduled to return to Cabot on Saturday, Jan. 16, then wrestle at Conway on Tuesday, Jan. 19, and at Central Arkansas Christiam on Saturday, Jan. 23.
